Nik Chinook - Nick Heap
Nik says:
I now live in the Cotswolds UK after time in Hong Kong and Devon.

Since a child I have been fascinated by Renaissance and Baroque paintings of mythic and religious stories. These are often bewildering events played out in theatrical settings, evoked extraordinary worlds.

In more recent terms I'm inspired the magical realism and suburban myths through the works of Paula Rego, Edward Hopper, Tom Hammick, Gregory Crewdson and Andrew Hem.

I (attempt to) synthesise these ideas into narrative art commenting on contemporary life through a kind of modern 'History Painting'.
